Sermon Reflection, October 29, 2018

Yesterday we continued on our journey of walking with the Lord!  As we walk with the Lord we are accepting the following challenge:
-Spend 15 minutes a day in Bible reading and prayer, at least five days a week
-Pray out loud
Yesterday's sermon explored the two ordinances of the church, water baptism and communion.  Jesus set the example in both water baptism and communion, and I encourage us all to follow in His footsteps as we take the journey!

Sunday's Missions Convention was a wonderful celebration of the missions outreaches of First Assembly.  I would like to offer a particular word of appreciation to our children and youth who made our "Parade of Nations" possible, and the ladies who made our lunch a success.  "Thank you".
We were blessed by the sermon of Missionary Reginald Stone as he told us stories of God's miracles and provisions upon the mission field.  What a great God we serve!
Thank you for your continued support of the missions outreaches of First Assembly.  With God's help we will do our part is fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus!

Sermon Reflection, October 8, 2018

Yesterday's sermon asked the question "why did God send Jesus to earth"?  In Genesis 1: 26-30 is the record of God's creation of man.  When he finished and observed his creation, he called it "very good".
Even though sin has brought a serious imperfection to God's creation, God still believes man is "very good", and worth the restoration.  And that is why God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to Earth.  So that man can be forgiven and restored.
I encourage you to never believe the lie that you are unloved, worthless, or of no value.  God believes you are "very good".  As we accept the forgiveness provided by God in the plan of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, we are restored.  We are "very good"!

As we read the Bible and pray we come in contact with God.   The question then arises, "Who is God?", "Who are we talking with?".
The Bible gives us answers to this incredible question.  God is:
-The eternal, self-existent one
-Creator of all that is
-The Redeemer of all mankind
-The God who lives within our heart as we are Born Again
I encourage you to take the journey with us.  Read the Bible daily and pray.  Communicate with God.  Enjoy the relationship!
