Yesterday we celebrated Memorial Day weekend with an emphasis on the importance of the church in the life of a nation.  Jesus told us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.  Wow, that is amazing!
     America is depending upon it's churches to teach, preach and live the Word of God.  Without it, we are without salt and light as a nation!  We can't let that happen!

      Yesterday I concluded the sermon series "Our Journey To Pentecost" with the celebration of Pentecost Sunday.  For 21 centuries the church has existed and thrived!  The birth of the New Testament church that began on the Day of Pentecost recorded in the Book of Acts, chapter 2, is alive and well!

      Sunday I will continue the sermon series "Our Journey To Pentecost".  Fifty days separated the Jewish festivals of Passover and Pentecost.  We have taken this 50 day journey together, from Easter (April 1) to Pentecost Sunday (May 20).  We have journey through the crucifixion, resurrection, resurrection appearances for 40 days, ascension, waiting in Jerusalem in the upper room, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

   Sunday I will continue the sermon series "Our Journey To Pentecost".  Following the 40 day period of resurrection appearances Jesus gather with his believers on the Mount Of Olives and ascended into Heaven.  Prior to his ascension Jesus commanded his followers to remain in the city of Jerusalem for the promise of the Holy Spirit.  When the day of the Pentecost festival arrived the Holy Spirit was given.  (Acts 2).
         This journey is recorded in the later part of the Gospels and the first 2 chapters of the Book of Acts.  I invite you to come and take the journey with us!

     Yesterday we continued our journey to Pentecost Sunday with the sermon series "Our Journey To Pentecost".   Yesterday's emphasis was on the ascension of Jesus and his promise to send the Holy Spirit.
      Following the ascension 120 of Jesus' disciples waited in Jerusalem for the Festival of Pentecost.   When the day of the Pentecost festival arrived God fulfilled his promise of sending the Holy Spirit!  (Acts 2).
       The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost marks the beginning of the New Testament church.  That church has lasted and thrived for 21 centuries.  Millions, if not billions, have been "born again" and added to this church.  This New Testament church continues to thrive today!

      This Sunday we will continue the sermon series "Our Journey To Pentecost" with an emphasis on the Ascension of Jesus and the command of Jesus for the disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1).  Having proven his resurrection with 40 days of resurrection appearances, Jesus is now ready to return to Heaven. 
       An exciting day is soon to arrive for the believers!  One hundred and twenty believers have gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem to wait on the promise of Jesus that the Holy Spirit would arrive.  When the day of Pentecost celebration came, that promise was fulfilled!
      This journey continues to be an exciting journey!  I invite you to come and take the journey with us!
