This Sunday we will continue our study of the city of Ephesus and the Book of Ephesians. If you haven’t watched the computer re-creation of the city of Ephesus posted on our Facebook site I encourage you to do so. During the time of Paul the city had a population of about 300,000. Considering the world population at the time was less than 300 million, Ephesus was a very large city! Its buildings, temple to Diana as well as numerous temples to other gods, bathhouses, library, outdoor theater of 25,000 seats, marble streets, and many other attractions, made Ephesus a city of great wonder and marvel. Can you imagine travelers as they approached the city of Ephesus! Most had never seen anything close to it’s size, population and beauty.
Paul spent two and a half years preaching and teaching in Ephesus. His preaching was filled with miracles, converts and controversy. Acts chapter 19 is a history of his ministry and the events in the city during Paul’s stay. It’s an amazing story! My Sunday sermon will center upon Paul’s encounter with 12 Ephesian believers who had not heard of the Holy Spirit. Paul lays his hands upon them and prays that they will receive the Holy Spirit. You might be surprised what happens. I’ll give you a hint, the same thing that happened on the Day of Pentecost!. I hope you and your family will join me Sunday at 10:00 AM. I’ll be looking for you 🙂 -Pastor Jeff Carico.

Sermon: “Book of Ephesians, Queen of the Epistles” -Water Baptism as a part of the Morning Worship Service I hope you and your family will join us at 10:00 AM! -Pastor Jeff Carico The Life of Moses,
Moses lived over 3,000 years ago, born into an area and culture completely foreign to us. He was adopted from a poor Jewish family into the home of an Egyptian Pharaoh. In early adulthood he committed a murder and had to flee Egypt. In the land of Midian he marries the daughter of a shepherd and spends the next 40 years as husband and shepherd. But God still had plans for Moses. At age eighty God appears to Moses and gives him the task of returning to Egypt and leading the captive Jewish people to freedom. The next forty years of his life are spent accomplishing this task. At the age of 120 Moses dies. At first glance it may seem that we have little, if anything, in common with Moses. But you will be surprised! There is much that we can relate to in the life of this ancient historical and spiritual leader! I invite you and your family to join me tomorrow for my sermon entitled “The Life of Moses”. See you at church! -Pastor Carico Every holiday has its own unique theme, meaning and emotion. Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, July 4th, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day are all very important dates on the American calendar. Each represents a very important moment in American history and culture, and arouses deep spiritual and national emotions.
But no holiday raises emotions quite like Mother’s Day. It’s hard to explain. Just simply say the word “mother” and it happens. The emotions appear. A tear, a chuckle, a memory, they just instantly appear. Over the years you have grown to understand the struggles, sacrifices and efforts that she made for you. Yes, it’s a unique day: “Mother’s Day”. I invite you and your family to join us this Sunday at First Assembly as we honor our mothers. Here are some events of the day: -A flower for each mother present -A moment of honor for your mother -A family Photo Booth available for pictures -Honoring of some special ladies of our congregation I hope to see you and your family Sunday at 10:00 AM. -Pastor Jeff Carico My Sunday sermon will be entitled “A Message Of Hope”. There in little hope in today’s news headlines. Where do you find hope? Our hope is in the Lord.
My Sunday sermon will be on the theme of the call of Nehemiah. You can find the story in the first chapter of the book of Nehemiah. He left a comfortable occupation and lifestyle to go to the violent, destitute and poverty stricken city of Jerusalem. Was it a good decision?
In many ways the answer to this question will be no. But the “game changer” in the story of Nehemiah is the call of God. If you factor in the call of God the answer will be yes. I hope that you and your family will join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM for our Morning Worship Service. I look forward to studying the call of God upon the life of Nehemiah. -Pastor Jeff Carico Are you surprised by the tensions and conflicts of the Middle East that are dominating the news headlines? Will you be shocked if future events occur? I believe most people are not surprised by recent events and anticipate future events will come. In my opinion those assumptions are correct!
Does the Bible give us information relevant to what we are seeing? Jesus spoke about events of the last days and described them as “birth pains”, a prelude to his return. The title of my Sunday sermon will be “Can You Feel The Birth Pains?”. I invite you to join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM. -Pastor Jeff Carico |
